He was born in Doha, Qatar at1956. He graduated from Department of History of Qatar University. He studied graphic arts at Belgium Lovan University and then Cairo.

Hassan, who started his work with calligraphy in 1972, has been researching the Arabic letter "nun", which he admires for more than twenty years. He works in different disciplines of art from traditional black and white Arabic calligraphy to watercolor compositions to painting and sculpture. The artist had solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in countries such as Qatar, Switzerland, Japan, France, America, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, England, Egypt, Morocco and the Arabian Peninsula.

Ali Hassan has his works in the prestigious collections and museums of the world.
He continues to live and work in Doha.
