He was born in Penza, Russia at 1981. He graduated from Frank Badur's master class in Berlin.

Khesin produces sculpture-like paintings that bring the complexity between color and material into focus. He use experiment and discovery as a part of his artistic method. He tries to appeal both senses of sight and touch by painting with pigmented silicone.

Lev Khesin explores the cognitive potential of an art that is unleashed with concepts that are imposed on objects and phenomena, challenging the dominance of language systems. Since 2005, had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in museums and galleries at Germany, USA, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, France, Japan and Australia. In 2019, his book called "Morphologie" was published by the art book publisher Distanz Verlag.

He has been living and working in Berlin since 1999.
