He was born in Istanbul at 1966. He graduated from Painting Department of Mimar Sinan University Fine Arts Faculty in 1993. He founded Akbank Cultural Center Original Printing Workshop in 1993 and Sinan Demirtaş Stone Printing Workshop in 1997. The artist opened his first solo exhibition titled "Roads" at Taksim Art Gallery in 1996. Between 1993 and 2004 he served as the manager of Akbank Culture Center Printing Workshops.

Demirtaş, who mainly uses photography in his works, sees photography as an important tool for exploring realism in pictures. He deliberately moves away from the photo-realistic images and reflects his own world in his works. The artist, pushes the limits of the two-dimensional canvas surface with anatomical details that seem to go beyond the canvas and offers us a contemporary look through one of the most important themes in painting called portrait.

Demirtaş, is a lecturer at Yeditepe University Fine Arts Faculty. He continues his life and works in Istanbul.
